master of journalism - print media

Course Overview:

The programme of Master of Journalism - Print Media will help the students  to get deep knowledge of Journalism as also an awareness of systematic research. It will help them to develop writing skills through various assignments given in current affairs.

Objectives:

  1. Deepen knowledge of Journalism: Provide students with an in-depth understanding of the principles, theories, and practices of journalism, specifically focusing on print media. Explore the historical, social, and cultural context of journalism to develop a comprehensive perspective.
  2. Foster systematic research skills: Equip students with the ability to conduct rigorous and systematic research in the field of journalism. Teach them how to gather, analyze, and interpret data to support their journalistic work, enabling them to produce well-informed and evidence-based articles.
  3. Enhance writing skills: Offer various assignments focused on current affairs to develop students' writing skills. Provide opportunities to hone their ability to synthesize information, craft compelling narratives, and communicate complex ideas effectively through written content specific to print media.
  4. Promote critical analysis: Encourage students to critically analyze and evaluate news stories, journalistic practices, and media institutions. Develop their ability to identify bias, misinformation, and propaganda, fostering a discerning approach to consuming and producing news.

  5. Specialized training in investigative reporting, feature writing, opinion writing, and long-form journalism.

Post Graduate Degree in Journalism (B.J.), Entrance Exam

Duration:

One-year regular degree program

Evaluation:

Semester pattern - 40% External and 60% Internal, 50% passing

Medium of teaching:

Marathi (Option is available to write answers in English
